Cardboard packaging and ecology
Ecology is becoming more and more important in our lives. It turns out that many of the products we use every day that have revolutionized our lives are excessively harmful to our planet. Companies are looking for ecological solutions, and many of them are convinced that it is a tedious and difficult to solve problem. However, in most cases, the use of ecological packaging is not so complicated.
What are cardboard packaging made of?
Cardboard boxes are ecological already at the time of their production. They are made of cardboard – the most durable paper product. Cardboard is made of paper pulp, which is most often made of recycled paper, mixed with fabric and wood pulp.
Cardboard is nothing more than several such masses connected together. In this way, we can obtain cardboard boxes of various thicknesses and strengths. Among them, the most popular and durable is corrugated cardboard, from which cardboard boxes are made. The producer usually takes care of everything – from the production of cardboard to assembling the appropriate boxes for the customer.
Why is cardboard ecological?
The ecological aspect of cardboard is mainly due to the fact that it is obtained mainly from renewable raw materials. It does not require any additional deposits, which would have to be supplied separately. Contrary to plastic – which loses its durability and quality with each recycling process – cardboard is just as durable, no matter how many such processes have gone through.
As if that were not enough – the technology needed to produce cardboard does not pollute the environment. Its production is therefore safe for the environment and can be carried out on a mass scale.
Disposing of cardboard boxes
Cardboard packages should be taken to the collection of waste paper or thrown into specially designated containers. We can also take advantage of various types of campaigns – often children in schools collect waste paper.
Thanks to this, we will be sure that the cardboard will be recycled and used for the production of new boxes. Disposing of packaging in illegal landfills or mixed rubbish often excludes it from being reused, which makes many of it simply wasted.
The good news is that when thrown “in the wild”, cardboard boxes degrade quickly and
easily, without affecting the environment. However, as a result, the manufacturer of cardboard packaging loses a valuable raw material that it could use.
